Thanks very much George. It didn't benefit me, in any way, I can assure you.

I came to be so interested in the short-term Dow movements because someone who I know well, who is a trader in a local merchant bank, had a short position and he used to discuss buying it back with me. For the few days before the Fed announcement I could see/feel that something was driving the market up --- when the market should have fallen, it didn't --- then we found out what it was. Although "they" would strenuously deny it, insider trading is surely the name of the game.

Now, I feel it is necessary to have clear evidence that the rally has petered out, before one tries anything again. It is not safe to swim in shark-infested water!
