Here's some interesting stuff!
Two things: An article in JOC on Oct 14th and the PNLK direct mail piece...............

There was a large article in JOC on Wed of this week entitled:
Agency fires three stage rocket into cyberspace with virtual trade shows.

High tech programs mean savings for smaller exporters.
Paragraph 1=
"The US department of commerce led a foray into cyberspace in September, launching three programs to push the nations small and medium sized companies into global markets"

This article is all about efforts by the DOC to get US businesses to use the internet for global trading. Part of the effort is a virtual trade show which is on the net now at expo.qsi.com. This is in place of the typical in person type of trade show. Check out this site to learn more about it. One of the participants mentioned how cheap it was to participate compared to a normal trade show at about $500 cost. They will be on the site for about one year. COMPARE THIS TO PNLK OF $360! There are not very many companies on it yet, looks like only a few hundred at best. Clearly the idea of using the net for promoting and carrying out global trade is taking off as everyone says. This is the US government actively promoting the concept. Another comment at the end of the article says,"more than 7000 global trade related sites are available on the internet" This is going to be the biggest revolution in business operations ever IMO!
The only question for us is whether PNLK can get the job done and if they are attractive to businesses to carry out this new strategy for trading globally. I think they can get it done for the following reasons:
1. The web site is clearly impressive and can save many companies much more than the signup cost.

2. I am starting to see solid evidence that Glenn really knows how to market a product. The stockgenie promotion was a good start but then it seemed everything ceased. I then got an e mail from the company which I believe is what they are sending out as part of the email campaign(I believe 50,000 were going out from some earlier statements) This has been posted for everyone to read.

Next comes the big full color ad in the JOC. This paper, for those who have not seen it is impressive and looks to me like it may be the key daily publication for world wide trade. According to Glenn, 4.5 million readers!

Today I got in the mail the direct mail package which we have been told is going to preselected audiences. It is a simple but effective piece. (Think about how this is put together as I describe it. Marketing is mostly a psychological game)
It is a trifold envelope/letter form which has on the front side below the addressee's name in large red lettering " An Invitation to Increase Your Global Sales". When you turn it over it says; "Introducing the fastest and easiest way for you to find, buy and sell products around the world. PRONETLINK Bringing Global Commerce to your Desktop Computer for Less Than $1 a Day"

Then you open it up half way and see at the top of the page the lines;

" Welcome to www.pronetlink.com The Internet's leading Import/Export Directory and Webtool".

Finally, when it is completely open you see the same ad which was in JOC only it looks better because the colors are brighter. Newspapers are not known for high quality colors and printing. At the bottom of this is a different extension next to the phone number than in the JOC ad. Also the e mail address is Sales2@pronetlink.com while in the paper it said Sales3@pronetlink.com. It is clear they did this to know which of the two promotions brought in the largest number of potential customers. By doing this they will know what approach is having the most effect and tailor their future promotions to the most effective methods. This is only my opinion of course but I think it makes sense.

3. Now we hear that pnlk is hiring people. They are going to need them to handle all the responses they should get from this so far three pronged approach. (These are the three pieces I have now personally seen: For all the people who kept saying; "what are they doing to market the site?")

4. We have not been told anything by Glenn which did not happen. Now from Johnny comes an e mail from Glenn saying some interesting news may be coming out next week.

I think this is going to be the last week to get in on the bottom. But this is all JMHO. I think the evidence is getting pretty thick though.

Good luck to all. This should be interesting!
