If AMD were more clever they would try to act like a duopoly and send pricing signals to Intel that they don't have to cut each other's throats.

Greg,

It is quite obvious that AMD would rather sell their processors at a higher price. Intel has forced AMD into their current pricing levels- they have to sell parts at 25% below Intel to keep their customers.

Intel has been unwilling to give up any market share, even at the expense of their bottom line.

Greg, re: "If AMD were more clever they would try to act like a duopoly and send pricing signals to Intel that they don't have to cut each other's throats. AMD should spend more money on marketing and developing brand recognition for it's own products to develop some level of loyal following. If their products are superior, as they claim, then price it accordingly, don't tell me you're product is better than a Rolex and is priced 25% less."

Sounds a little like Apple, which hasn't done too bad lately.

John

Yes, there is enough room for two players with each has a annual revenue of $1B
dollars. But for two players with each has 25 B dollars, there is definitely enough room. The current pricing issues will cause more problem and pressure to Intel than AMD, because INTEL's stock price is built based on the assumption that INTEL will
have more than 90% of the world CPU market. If all of sudden that market share is cut into half for Intel, you know what will happen to the stock price of Intell !!!!!!!!!
