It always amazes me that the more biased a person is the less likely they are to see it. And
the more likely they are to accuse others of it.

This holds true in many areas. For instance, you often see, in the case of men who are somehow conflicted about their own sexuality, them becoming some of the most virulent critics of homosexuals, and intolerant of the gay lifestyle.

Without getting into psycho-babble, we often deny to ourselves the recognition of traits we find objectionable, and often accuse (or see) those traits in others. One of the terms used for this behavior is "Projection." It is a coping mechanism, and we all use various ones to help us function. It is a way to protect ourselves from consciously seeing what we find objectionable in ourselves, and as a way of feeling superior to the ones we project on to.

Congrats for being perceptive enough to recognize that.

Len

<<although perhaps your observation does not apply as much to Michael...It seems to me that he usually tries to be more fair minded>> Well I might have agreed with you a few posts back.It was the last post that put him over the line IMO.I also noticed he was beginning to promote this same theme in responding to an excellent though somewhat long winded post by yourself on the subject. [just testing your sense of humor here jbe ] Maybe he was just being a little to full of himself. Can understand that. Been there myself actually.
