Paul Engel. Re: "IBM, Dell, vs. Intel. Thanx for your post. What your analysis shows is that one of the reasons IBM and DEll are doing so well is that their "stories" are easy to understand. Another is that there is relatively little uncertainty with either story changing any time soon. Finally, since they are going up in price, the people who are buying may know more than I do so I should buy too (herd mentality).

Re: "So, long term, Intel will continue to do well." You're right. Patience is key. I held Wal-Mart in the mid-20's for three years then sold it. Now it's 66. I think the market has underpriced Intel, particularly the contribution of the Xeon in the near term future.

Paul..just got the TK report from Oct.14.......".We estimate that orders are flattening recently implying a peaking of new order level entering Q4....Due to continued weak sales and earnings growth we continue our NEUTRAL investment ratings............we project a moderate 2% sequential sales increase in Q4 which is up 5% year to year and a lesser % gain than in Q3.This will be an investor concern.......Our new 98 and 99 estimates are $3.17 and $3.24 up fom $3.00 and $2.90-3.00.In 99 sales and earnings are expected to grow by 6% and 2% respectively.
