My personal feeling is that the current environment of the market is a short-term phenomenon. Until the unemployment figures and earnings figures start to show a negative LONG TERM trend, then this is a partial blip.
In the meantime, 401(k)s continue to get pumped full of cash and need to invest somewhere....
It's just a matter of time before the supply falls short of the demand again.
Besides, earnings are not coming in at as bad a level as nay-sayers had predicted. The trend continues to be that "whisper" numbers aren't being met. That's a "bad" thing for over inflated multiples, but a good thing overall.
