Bubba: I was burned out in the mid-80s trying to deal with program trading in a much thinner market. I took several years off because I was tired of it. All I had was long term holdings during that period which I sold off at the beginning of this year. I have found that the best way, for me, to be nimble is to stop reading newspapers, pay strict attention to market internals, identify quickly when I am wrong, and change my positions based on the current information. I would much rather ride a bull or bear market that moves over a period of time in a consistent direction. Trying to deal with volatile markets it too time-consuming.
