********OFF TOPIC: MARIJUANA**********

Problem is, we are not just talking potheads here, Les. A lot of people are occasional users, and are no more potheads than I, sitting here with my nightcap, am a drunk. And users of medicinal marijuana. I am still haunted by the story I read about a paraplegic who was sentenced to TWENTY YEARS in jail (no parole), in some benighted state, for carrying around more than the "legal" limit of marijuana in his wheelchair. (He used it for pain relief.)

The irony is that more people have been jailed for marijuana offenses under I-didn't-inhale Bill Clinton than under any previous President. Some apparently are small-scale dealers (practically no King Pins); the rest were put away for simple possession. In my past posts, I think I provided URLs to sites with specific figures on the proportion of marijuana offenders in the general prison population. It was astonishingly high. I can check back if you are interested.
