><>...Hi Texas Dude...><>

Whenever we look to men to lead and or guide us we will fail.

All men are but flesh and blood, we are all weak and prone to errors.
There is not one who is perfect, no not one.
Only the man Jesus Christ is worthy to follow.

We cannot allow man to dictate to us the precepts, and ways of God without knowing for ourselves that what they say lines up plumb with God's most holy word.

On the other side of that coin, there are a great many men and women who truly are grounded in the word of God, but not without sin, or weaknesses. Paul himself writer of 2/3 of the NT,and directly chosen by God, was not without sin and great weaknesses. He knew he was a sinner and confessed of his sins openly, he persecuted and was among those who murdered Christians. He even considered himself chief of sinners! Yet he went on to become one of Jesus's most loyal and outspoken representative. Through him God brought millions to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

You see Texas, it is not who a man is of himself, but who he is in relation to Christ. The flesh is weak and corruptible beyond imagination, but those who follow the ways of Christ, and know from their own understanding, the word of God, Look to Christ to help them overcome their weaknesses by yielding to the Holy Spirit of God. And God is true and faithful in giving all who look to Him for help and guidance, the strength to overcome, a little, one day at a time.

God tries the hearts of men, and counts as righteousness those hearts which are contrite and humble. He searches the hearts of men and He knows those who are forever seeking His counsel.

There is not one of us who will stand before Him on that great judgment day, who will have a perfect report, not one! But because of the blood that Jesus the Christ shed for the sins of mankind, there will be millions who will be counted as righteous.

Tex, are you familiar with the 1,000 yr. reign of Christ, do you know why it was established? Do you know what is meant by the 1st resurrection, and or the second death?....Are you interested?

Have a good day
Sincerely,
Shalom...><>

Dude,

First, a pretty good gauge on a real Christian is this, ask them where they're going when they die, and why?

If there answer is heaven, and the reason Jesus alone, that pretty well tells you if they are truly Christian. Anything else is suspect!

I talk about Jew and Catholics a lot because my biggest exposure is to these two groups. But please realize my comments are not limited to these two groups. Most major religions are hosed!

In the yellow pages, a good bet would be to look up Calvary Bible, Evangelical, Assemblies of God. But you must visit each one to see if there doctrines are truly Christian. It is not easy picking a place to worship. And again, I'm sure there are some good churches out there that are affiliated with a major religion. But you must use care when choosing.

The bible does not have to be constantly edited and revised. But because of prideful people, each one thinking they could do a better job translating it, they keep doing it. But this is a joke! Many translations are pretty accurate and no one really needs to try to retranslate it. But they do because they think they can do a better job then the next guy. But there is really no need! But the key is, most major translations don't differ on the salvation message. And that is what's important. That's what you need to keep focused on!

Unsavory characters being Christians, the answer is two-fold. I already explained part one, non-Christians claiming Christianity. The second, and more impoortant one, is that being a Christian does not make you perfect. Believe me, I am screwed up just as much as the next guy. So it is very understandable that some Christians are screwed up. Accepting Christ does not stop you from sinning. It just gets you forgiveness from God for it. And God tells us, in any version of the bible, sin seperates us from him. And again, in any major translation of the bible, it tells you how to be saved from your sins. And in the same bibles it tells you you must be born again, that being having accepted the gift of salvation of God to be forgiven. When you accept God's gift of salvation, you have been born again! Period!

As to the individuals you mention, I don't know each and every one of their stories specifically. And I don't care to. I know they are sinners just like me. And it is their business if they are truly Christian or not, not mine! You see everyone has the responsibility of their relationship. Not my business!

Hope I answeres all your questions satisfactorily. If you need any further details to any one of the answers, please let me know!

God Bless,
Steve

<< 1) Pat Robertson..father of illegitimate child and advocate of dooms day prophesy, but still goes ahead and collects millions of dollars from his flock to build multi-million dollar home. >>

Pat had said that "his" god was going to strike Orlando with a hurricane, and thus punish all the people in Orlando with a hurricane, presumably because Disney had a "Gay Day" at their park.

Well, Hurricane Georges hit just about everything else but Orlando. Have you heard whether or not Georges was Pat's god's hurricane? If it was, is Pat liable, somewhat, for the damages to the Florida Keys, or any of the other islands massacred by this storm?

If Georges was Pat's god's hurricane, why did it miss Orlando? Surely God wouldn't have told Pat that He was going to punish Orlando and then punish the Keys and the Dominican Republic, etc, instead.

Perhaps Pat Robertson meant that his god was going to punish Orlando sometime over the next hundred years? That would be a good bet, because, it's a fairly certain prophesy.

Anyway, if Pat Robertson has a direct line to his god, and doesn't try to talk his god out of hitting Orlando with a hurricane, or, perhaps, even suggests it to his god, and his god's hurricane misses Orlando and hits many other places, is Pat liable in any way for the damages?
