Newbridge Networks Appoints New Executive Vice President to Lead Switching Products Group

KANATA, ONTARIO--Newbridge Networks today announced the appointment of Brian Jervis
as the new Executive Vice President of the Company's global Switching Products Group.

Mr. Jervis joins Newbridge from Nortel Networks where he held the position of Vice President and
General Manager of MultiMedia Networking, based in Ottawa, Ontario. During his more than 20
year-career at Nortel, he has held senior management positions as Group Vice President, Switching
Networks, and Senior Vice President and General Manager of Magellan Passport/DPN (Data
Packet Networks). ''Brian has a proven track-record of success in the industry and will be a strong
addition to the Newbridge executive leadership team,'' said Alan Lutz, President and Chief
Operating Officer, Newbridge Networks. ''He represents the calibre of candidate we are looking to
bring into the organization as we heighten our sense of urgency and accountability and become more
aggressive in our product and marketing strategies.''

Mr. Jervis will be replacing Scott Marshall who has held executive management positions in
Newbridge for the past 11 years. The Switching Products Group is responsible for the Company's
core switching products, including the MainStreet(r) family of bandwidth management systems and
the industry-leading MainStreetXpress(tm) 36170 Multiservices Switch, the largest selling ATM
switch in the industry. Mr. Jervis will assume his new role effective November 2, 1998.

You seem to have a good understanding of the Telcos. I was wondering if AT&T Canada trades on TSE and if so what is the symbol? Need ticker for research on another company.
