Bill: If the Treasury and Fed really are doing all they can to keep gold down, they apparently do not buy Jude Wanniski's idea that gold at $350 would solve most of the world's financial problems.

Another possibility is that they would not have a problem with $350 gold per se. But they are be scared that with such a huge short position, gold will go way beyond $350 if they lose control. In other words $350 gold is not an option. Either it remains below $300 or soars above $400.
