Good evening shalom, or shalom shalom, :o) Yes, I did receive your PM and I thank you. I have not been on the computer much this weekend, so am just now getting around to here. As always thanks for your posts of God's Word, and Spurgeon, and yourself. Although, I knew in the dark recesses of my mind(read lots of cobwebs) , God used a friend today to tell me some things about evangelism. Things I think you already know(hence your scarcity around here. He reminded me of several scriptures that I would like to relate here: 1.John 12: 31 Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out. 32 But I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to myself." ** It was not I that offered my blood as a covenant, but Jesus. 2.Matt. 28:16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." ** All authority on heaven and earth given to ME?? ..No, to Jesus. 3. Acts 2:2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. Acts 2:5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. Acts 2:14 Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: "Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say. ** What just happened here? Did Peter run an ad in the paper for a gospel meeting? NO! God ,used a violent rushing wind and assembled thousands of people. They came together because He caused it not Peter or anyone else there. And Peter preached to them about this Jesus and WHAT WAS THE OUTCOME? Well when the crowd heard this: Acts 2:36 "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ." they were: 37 ..... cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" Peter bent no arms, did not argue for a week with a non believer, he did not have to. WHY, BECAUSE GOD DREW THESE PEOPLE, NOT PETER. Again another great example. : Philip, during his ministry was told to go stand on a road: Acts 8:26 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Go south to the road--the desert road--that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza." Did Philip know why? Does not say he did. ... Then he was told to run up to chariot...one holding an Ethiopian, an official of Queen Candaces court, who had been to Jerusalem to worship. So he does that. And what is the eunuch doing? Acts 8:30 Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. HE WAS READING SCRIPTURE. Philip did not call this man, God did. Why? Because the eunuch was already searching trying to find out about this Jesus. v30........"Do you understand what you are reading?" Philip asked. 31 "How can I," he said, "unless someone explains it to me?" So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. 32 The eunuch was reading this passage of Scripture: "He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before the shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth. 33 In his humiliation he was deprived of justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth." God just put Philip in the path of someone who had already been touched by God to come near to Him. And did Philip have to beat on the eunuch to stop the chariot to have him accept Christ and be baptised?? NOPE look! v.35 Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus. v36 As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, "Look, here is water. Why shouldn't I be baptized?" See that? The eunuch said it and did it.Philip just was the one God used to do HIS WORK...HIS WORK... GOD'S WORK... I need to remember it is HIS work and HE will call whom He calls. I just need to be ready if He ALLOWS me to be a part of HIS work. Anyway, thanks, I need to answer a post to Mark then I think I will WAIT before the LORD and try not to let my mouth run over. God Bless. dan
