I think that Q1-299 should be OK for release of K7.

I think the validation suites are pretty good these days and emulation tools like Quickturn can help iron out simple bugs too.

The areas of concern will be SMP as AMD doesn't have much experience in this area. And look at the problems Intel has had with Xeon.

I would estimate that AMD has a high probability of shipping K7 at least for high end PC/workstation market. It may take them till end of 99 to ship K7 for SMP and the server market.

The biggest question is wether they can yield it- functionality and the 500Mhz+ speed grades.
