Pinochet was an authoritarian who restored Chilean democracy after Allende tried to unlawfully and brutally impose totalitarian Marxism on the country. Allende had acted much like Hitler did - he fomented unrest to destabilize democracy and won a small plurality from which he sought to impose total control. Who knows how many would have been saved if Hitler had been removed in 1939? There is little doubt that Pinochet's actions prevented even greater numbers than did die from dying as a result of Allende's plans. Chile today stands as Pinochet's redemption - democracy and capitalism is rooted there, just as Allende is reviled. Only the crazed and unrepentant Left still supports and defends Allende. btw, when will the murderous totalitarian Left be made to pay for its crimes against humanity?
