dennis, A press release goes to a TSE specified list called a press release compliance list. There are Ontario, and other province lists and also USA lists etc. If yoy call ISDN they will give you the repertoire of PR lists you can choose from. The minimum Ontario compliance list is all brokerage houses in Canada and all stock markets and stock exchanges and all those who ask to be placed on that compliance list.
There is some truth that all of them now have internet connections and in theory you could e-mail them all and conform to the compliance requirements by your self and not need to use ISDN or whoever you use for press releases. In fact some companies do their own releases and certify their own compliance, however for most companies it is cheaper to use a service.

The internet is both more and less universal, as millions can see it, but what about all those on the compliance list?

The news release agencies hate this idea as all their business might vanish so they are building bridges to the exchanges to share revenue to get exclusivity???? Highway robbery as the internet will win in the end.
I also dislike this policy fostered by old goats with clayed feet as I would like to see companies free to make comments and the internet used for press releases.
