I have just finished reading some net articles on Nanking. The horror is really hard to comprehend except that there are other instances of Japanese WWII brutality that are well documented and so there runs a common thread. However, evil in the souls of men spans history and crosses all nations and races to one degree or another. No one seems to be completely exempt.
Maybe that is why we need so much law enforcement to maintain order even in peace time. And then we still have problems. A street mugging seems small compared to genocide but any crime is a huge event if YOU happen to be the victim. Oh well, so much for that. I am going to take a nap and try to sleep it off. But I appreciate the conversation. I learned something today.

Mark, my friend..

I have to interject to your response. You use the word forgive in your reply. No, the proper word is accept, "Mankind has a responsibility to accept itself for its' war time killing. We (Mankind) should never come to the point that killing is forgivable, in any form. There are times that it must be accepted for the good of the whole, but never forgiven. Everyone should be shocked, horrified at any wanton act of killing, be it a single mugger or a world at war. I know that this may sound rather strange coming from a man who spent most of his life in a killing profession but I accept what I choose to be so that someone else could maybe be a doctor. And yes, we should learn from it, but we won't!!!!
No person who is on the face of the earth prays for peace harder, with more conviction and passion, than a professional soldier.

I hope that I got my point across at what I was trying to say. Take care my friend and have a great day..
