Gottfried, Following is my AMAT Highs and Table from the years '1991 1998 using absolute numbers rather than split adjusted numbers. On the left side I have figured the average, and standard deviation data of the highs and lows. Then, on the right side I removed the high years using only the low years. If I would have followed the above Table through 1997 highs I would have sold at $104 and bought at $21.50 using the highs and low standard deviation. The high for 1997 was $108.375 presplit ($54 post split). Naturally, the above is only my opinions and the data which I have compiled. Readers are reminded the old saving, "caveat emptor (buyer/reader beware)."
