Russ,

Some mention of ASM in the article below regarding the planned
updrades of Samsung steppers. I won't be surprise to see some major announcement for steppers by MU based from the timing of the stock move and the announcement by MU.

ebnonline.com

I really believe we shall see better things for ASMLF ahead because
of what happened lately:

1. The return of the yen to a better dollar exchange. This will make
Canon or other Japanese products NOT as cheap anymore compared to
when a dollar was about 148 yen.

2. The approval of the 17.9B IMF funding in the latest budget. This may allow some Asian countries some badly needed capital to upgrade
their steppers.

3. The technology will keep upgrading to smaller line width to increase chip speed for the same size but with minimal investment.
This will mean fabs will use present wafer sizes (200mm) but will upgrade lithography. I will be a buyer of Cymer too.

Just my opinion.

Roly
