The program that I saw on tv cortex=ampikines-silver bullet for memory loss was only in the animal trials..yet on this board messages#518 and message#531 are giving the information that Ampalex= cx 516 has been in human testing, found to be statistically significant positive results. My question-- why wasn't that testing shown and the results hyped instead of the rat testing trials which according to info on this board certainly are outdated ????,You see what I mean? Something doesn't add up here IMHO.

Human testing is currently being done. It is already underway but not completed yet.....the company cannot show testing or results on a news broadcast that are not yet conclusive...the studies are what are called double blind testing (I think) so no real conclusive results can be made until the human testing is completely done.....the rat testing was significantly conclusive...

Sue,

To answer your question why the NBC news story still focuses on the rat studies is this.... Cortex allows anyone in the world to conduct studies with their amphalex drugs.

Wake Forest University was one of these interested parties that wanted to test this drug. Wake Forest published a report in a medical journal about a phenomenal study they conducted using this CX-516 on rats.

They were so amazed at the results, they repeated the study three times just to make sure there wasn't some error.

That's quite amazing.

I'll assume NBC news research reads these medical journals and publications to come up with a news story. NBC probably has a science editor or medical editor look for the most promising medical technologies out there. And report on them from time to time.

If you watched the NBC nightly news report...you saw they interviewed The Wake Forest University researcher (I'll assume the head researcher who conducted the recent study on rats).

So, what happened was, NBC probably called Wake Forest... then called Cortex, then called an independent source on memory (Psychologix). Interviewed all three sources...and threw a story together.

And the other fellow was correct..the USA studies on humans going on right now aren't completed.

NBC isn't going to comment on non-completed human studies.

Why? Because NBC would look very foolish giving victims of Alzheimers and Schitzophrenia hope on preliminary human studies.
It's unethical journalism.

On the other hand- The rat studies are completed by Wake Forest University and published. And since Wake Forest university is an independent entity from Cortex...it lends credibility that the drug indeed works. And not because Cortex just says it does. Because someone else says it does.

So NBC has no problem reporting on this.

Hope this helps.
