The short sale is the most powerful weapon in the arsenal of manipulative tools wielded by the Exchange Specialists and insiders.

I would like to recommend 2 books which are guaranteed
to change the way you perceive the markets in a most profound
way. They were written in the 70s by Richard Ney, who was
forced to resign from a prestigous firm because of his public
statements and warnigs about the manipulations. Senator Lee
Metcalf was stonewalled in his effort to investigate Exchange and
specialist practices and his efforts sre detailed in Ney's 2nd book.

The titles are: "the Wall Street Gang" and "Making it in The
Market". The grand scale of the manipulations and the rigging of
the regulations to obscure the paper trail are very well documented
and should be a must read for any investor. His charting techniqus
are pretty esoteric as they attempt to track specialist block
transactions with the aide of the Fitch reports, etc. All said, his
calls have been extremely accurate throughout the years , and he
is currently operating a managed account service from Belaire,
CA.
