Remembering 1982...

Sergio:

I remember the early eighties... I was looking for a mattress to hide my money under... There were also big worldwide concerns then... The difference was we had 18% interest rates... Then a Saloman Bros. Economist (Henry Kaufman) said interest rates would be coming down and BOOM, the Grandaddy of Bull markets started... I was in disbelief for the first 500 points... I was sure the market would come back down... But it kept climbing that wall of worry... The key was declining interest rates... Today we have a deflationary environment... But at some point, lower interest rates do affect the market... That second 1/4 point Greenspan edict did it... The market listened... It didn't listen two weeks ago... So, I have to assume that anticipation of another rate cut would add more fuel to a favorable market environment... With this said, we could still revisit the old lows one more time before killing the BEAR...
