Hi Petz , since you have been away perhaps you also missed the EE Times write up on the 14 Oct . Michael Slater is quoted as saying K7 puts AMD at an 18 month or more advantage over Intel . Dirk Meyer the head of the K7 design team is also quoted as saying the K7 is twice as fast as PII in X87 (FPU) instructions .
