Alex,
a great place to start is www.pricewatch.com. It lists the best prices for components from all over the web. Also, take into consideration the shipping from these sites, some are ridiculously expensive. If your looking for respectible and reliable, check-out www.TCComputers.com. They are recommended by Anand's Hardware, and he's pretty respected.

BTW: I just built a computer myself and ordered from five different retailers. They all delivered in a timely manner. I didn't have to return anything so I can't tell you about this.
