BEFORE THE BELL - HBO <HBOC.O> slips

NEW YORK, Oct 19 (Reuters) - Shares of healthcare
information systems company HBO & Co. <HBOC.O> slipped in
pre-opening trade Monday after drug wholesaler McKesson Corp
<MCK.N> said it would buy HBO in a $14.5 billion deal.
HBO stood out in overall quiet trade. Its shares were down
at 27 on the Instinet electronic trading system from a 29-9/16
Friday closing price.
HBO earlier traded at 27-3/4. McKesson saw a small number
of shares traded at 83, down from its closing price of 88-11/16.
