Hello Gregor,

John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Hard to imagine doing greater works than our Creator but His word says it plainly.
I have not met a Christian who has never struggled with doubts.
Consider the Israelites who witnessed the miraculous plagues set upon Egypt by God, the parting of the Red Sea, a pillar of cloud going before them by day and fire by night. Moses heads off for a short time and they manufacture an idol giving it credit for God's work. It is no wonder God holds looking for signs after Christ in contempt.
Supporting your thought, a few words spoken in faith towards God undoubtedly hold far more meaning than hours of repetitive prayer hoping to be heard for "much speaking."
Every good gift comes from God, and all we receive is by His grace.
I agree with your thought, as I think you are stating, that good works, sincerity, = rewards and answered prayer is untrue. All is by God's grace.
Much is forgiven us, and that by tremendous sacrifice on the part of our Saviour. How well Romans 12:1 applies then to us as we can never repay the debt by good works and expect answered prayer because of our personal efforts or sincerity...."I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service." All that we do is no more than reasonable service and what is done should be for the love of God, not for reward.
There is much in what you said, "I must ask the Lord to help me speak that which is in His will." I don't believe healing of an individual may always be in His will but that is not for us to decide. Praying for someones salvation is always in His will according to scripture.

God bless you Gregor,
John

Hi again Gregor,

I had to chuckle with your first comment in your post. "There is one thing not stressed these days by the clergy."
Not to paint all clergy with the same brush but we could certainly compile a lengthy list couldn't we.
Rev.3:14-20 speaks volumes to our church age.

In Christ,
John

Gregor, I see many sincere Christians pray to God like He is far removed and they implore Him to come to them and relieve them of this or that. We really need to read the scriptures. In this age of Grace God lives within our heart and He is not to be called to come to us from over here or there.
I agree that within our being the Holy Spirit is empowered to heal physically but the large percentage of healings are spiritual in that God gives us the strength to bear the load of our physical problems or it is what is know as a "spiritual" healing where we undergo emotional re-arrangements within our thoughts allowing us to accept or find answers to our dilemma.
God bless and strengthen you Gregor. If you have some extra time, remember me in your prayers.
In Christ,
Santiago (James)
