Dave (MG),

No, I agree with you that operators will look at what is most best/likely/cost-effective route. Somehow missed the point, probably my fault.

Yes, for 3G a form of CDMA will be the way, but what if, as I hear, operators are not in a rush for 3G. The evolution of the TDMA based technologies provides enough through-put for most future applications. If this is the case, the fight is still on at the 2G stage and the 3G is just "pie in the sky".

My statement can not be wrong, as I never said that CDMA (in whatever flavor) will not be the 3G of the future. I am awaiting response to a Swedish article I saw concerning AWIAN. This is something ericy have developed with others that seems to be 3G capable (Internet at 1,7Mbps) by using capacity on digital TV spectrum (it still needs GSM to let the transmitter know where the user is). It also seems to have nothing to do with cdma2000, WCDMA or any other similar technology. Beleive British Telecom and Deutsche Telekom are jointly developing it to become a Euro standard. Only saw some reference to this in the morning.

Rgds,
Mika
