Alex, many MANY folks have hooted and hollered at me for I stating UK would be on board, participating fully in the EU, even tho' they haven't "officially joined."

The truth is this:
 Cutting cash forward contracts in EU are already standard UK fare

 UK banks are "ready" for EU processing as per their testings, as per the Financial Times article dated today discussing same...

 They have announced they want the EU to be at approx 1.42 to the £ before they join, and UK has figured it will take until right at 2002
before they "officially join."

Official or not official...
if it walks like a dUcK, it must be a EU "member."
