Perhaps my biggest mistake has been to take profits on my winners while holding onto my losers, hoping they'll rebound. This, of course, defies good sense and carried to it's extreme will soon land you with a portfolio full of losers. It would be like a ball club that trades off its best players and keeps it's bench warmers -- not exactly the way to win the pennant. Still, when a stock runs up 20-30% it's tempting to hit the sell button; and when one drops 20-30%, it's hard to admit you made a mistake and dump it.
