Just because the Wall Monument was paid for by the NEA doesn't justify it's continued existence as it is currently constituted. We could just as easily have funded it from the general fund. We don't a separate bureaucracy for "art". Think of it Michelle, bureaucratic art....absolutely repugnant. bp

Michelle - a lot of it was paid for from private donations. If I recall, Lin won the design competition and received funding from the NEA for the project, but the land, the wall itself and it's maintenance are part of the Parks Service budget.

The fact is, art is something that governments should stay out of. The private sector seems very supportive of "popular" art culture, and we don't need the NEA's sleight-of-hand payback to the less-popular artistic community that helps feed the Democratic campaign warchest through the entertainment arts elite.
