<<I have no inside knowledge on this, however I believe that BS scheduled 3 - 12 satellite launches as opposed to 9 - 4 sat launches to get the sats up there as quickly as possible and play catch up with Iridium. Each month delay costs many millions in lost revenues. Had the plan succeeded we would have had 44 sats in orbit by year end.>>

Yes, Don; I think it was a good plan at that point. Must not be a very good plan anymore. Not trying too hard to second guess the experts; just seems like I've heard a lot of "we won't do that again"'s. Agreed, it would have been an outstanding success if it'd worked. Not necessarily criticizing them for trying. Just a little surprised, in hindsight, granted, that there wasn't more board discussion on the "what if's".

<<I don't think cost played a major factor in selecting the Zenit. I think the Zenit was selected primarily for its extended lift capabilities (Delta II cannot put 12 sats up at once) and its availability>>

By cost I was referring to cheaper to do twelve once than one twelve times.

Regardless; onward, into the wild blue yonder! Thanks for your reply. ...Tim
