Intel Katmai chip will give voice to applications

infoworld.com

One one positive side (for Intel) they can argue that you should buy a CPU that is more expensive than some whole non-Katmai systems in order to get voice recognition.

The danger for Intel is that Katmai becomes another Newton.

You can get some voice recognition in wireless phones that sell for $99, that draw a fraction of power of Katmai.

I wonder how many people will buy into Intel argument. A lot of "reporters" will just regurgitate Intel's press releases.
