NEW YORK, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of Pfizer Inc
today declared a 19-cent fourth-quarter dividend on the company's common
stock, payable December 10, 1998, to shareholders of record on
November 6, 1998.

Pfizer dividend payments in 1997 totaled 68 cents a share, consisting of
four quarterly payments of 17 cents each, when adjusted for a June 1997 two-
for-one split of Pfizer common stock in the form of a 100-percent stock
dividend. In each of the first three quarters of this year, the quarterly
dividend was 19 cents per share, a nearly 12-percent increase over the 1997
quarterly dividends. The fourth-quarter 1998 cash dividend is the 240th
consecutive quarterly dividend paid by Pfizer.

Pfizer Inc is a research-based, global health-care company. The company
reported revenues of about $12.5 billion for 1997, and expects to spend about
$2.2 billion on research and development in 1998.
