Informix Corporation will hold its quarterly earnings conference call on Wednesday, October 21, 1998 at 5:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time.

Informix Corporation (Nasdaq: IFMX - news) will provide their quarterly earnings conference calls for interested investors to listen to over the Internet, Vcall Corporation announced today.

the way this stock gets manipulated is remarkable. i expect it to hit 5.75 or 6 by end of t'rrow. then, regardless of what the earnings are, it will pull back.

I don't have any specifics on numbers, and if I did, it would be illegal for me to divulge what they were, but I do know some people who work in our local sales office and the word is that it was a really good quarter with some long standing deals coming in at the 11th hour.

I have no doubt that they will beat the analysts again. However, I think they need another couple quarters of solid numbers (with no restatements) before the market/analysts will take them seriously.

I believe that we will see the same thing happen that has happened for the last several quarters. The price will run up today and maybe tomorrow, on Weds. they will announce great numbers smothering the analysts estimates, and on Thursday the stock will drop like a rock, and it will hover around $4 for another 2 1/2 months, when it will repeat the same cycle. Especially with Dec. around the corner and another round of tax loss selling eminent.

I used to be long on IFMX, but now I'm a short term approach to it to capitalize on the swings. I bought at $4 so I am currently up over 25% if I were to bail now (I use Ameritrade so my commissions are a negligible $8). If it goes up to $6, oh well, I would have lost out, but it's better to make 25% on my money in two weeks and lose out on a little bit more, than to hang on, only to find that I was right, and it sinks back to $4 again and sits there. I will, however, be long on IFMX again, probably early/mid next year.

There are way too many good buys out there right now to tie up money here long term. DELL, EMC, banks, retail, etc...

JMHO,
Michael
