Paul,

You never complain when reporters regurgitate Halla-Peno's press releases !

I actually complain more, but for a different reason - the lack of basic information. Very few reporters manage to put together the roadmap (c|net was the only exception recently).

With Intel, the reporters manage to get the roadmap, then they are out of new stuff to print. Intel supplies the spin and they just reprint it.

It's interesting to compare stories from PC Week, Infoworld, C|net and CMP on any given day. They more or less have the same stories, starting from the same press releases.

You can get those stories done quickly, which helps if you have tight deadlines. But still, you should apply reason to separate facts from spin.

Voice recognition and dealing with language are software related issues. They are related to Katmai the same way as "multimedia" was related MMX.

Pure marketing, and spin, no substance. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Kind of like any statement you hear from Clinton White house. What's sickening is that it works.
