Why would they overlook PTEC?

Justice would never allow Intel to take control of Phoenix at this stage. Perhaps back in the days when there were many BIOS companies they could have gotten away with it, but no more.

Considering that most of the AMD and Cyrix based machines use PTEC as their BIOS supplier think about the ramifications. I am sure that when Intel bought the options on PTEC two years ago they had thought about it but times have changed.

If your looking for someone that would be interested in PTEC, I would be looking at HP or CPQ as better candidates.
