They were both part of the same 1980s neo-expressionist New York/SoHo gallery scene. I'd bet if you tried a search on AltaVista you might find it. The most striking thing about this Piss Christ work was how boring it is. You can't tell the crucifix is bathed in urine unless you know about it beforehand. It actually looks kind of sad. Serrano, a devout Catholic, was making a commentary about how denigrated poor Jesus has become in our corrupt society.

What reaction do you think people would have if one of these "artists" put the Holy Koran in a vat of urine to supposedly show how disrespected it had become? Forget about banning, the artist would have a price on his head!
