Jozef, it will have to be 4x100. Performance really suffers if the L2 is run at 66MHz The upcoming version with 256K of on-chip cache may beat the PII at 66MHz but some Socket7 mobos don't support a 6x66MHz setting (e.g. the Abit BH6).

Joe,
RE:"That would have to be 6 x 66MHz. Or 4 x 100, which would get even closer, if not faster than P-II. I wonder when Intel will drop P-II"

It will be 4 x 100...and don't assume that it will be slower than a Pentium II-400, Some of the 400s may well be the K6-2+.

Due to Intels BS segmentation marketing they won't drop the Pentium II...what they will do is come out with the Celeron 366 sooner than expected and next year replace the current Pentium II with the "Dixon" core which is a Celeron with 256k L2 cache in the die....probably still call it the Pentium II or III.
At any rate AMDs speed grades are really nipping on Intels heels.
If AMD intros the 400 in the first week of Novemeber my prediction that the 400 would be introduced the first week of November that I made TWO months ago will be right on the money. My sources are very good.
Regards, Jim
