I am getting a cable modem next week, and I was questioning them on security. They said they DO NOT give out IP addresses, as they are strictly confidential or something to that effect.

Woopeee Doooo. Most websites can see your IP address and if you know what your doing, not hard at all getting in VIA cable modem, unless you have a firewall.
