Re: ATI

To tell you the truth, in gaming circles ATI has a terrible reputation. The Rage Pro is a classic case of overpromise and underdeliver with respect to its 3D acceleration capabilities.

On the flip side, the Rage Pro seems to be the ONLY video controller built into top tier notebooks that has ANY 3D acceleration whatsoever. I know the neomagics, cirrus logics, and tridents in portable land have nil 3d capability. So one way of looking at it is that the Rage Pro in your Dell 7000 has the best 3D of any notebook.

The uncontested BEST graphics processors extant for gaming are the 3dfx VooDoo2 and the nVidia RIVA TnT -- neither of which has a mobile variant.
