That's good news about Asia. In the conference call, return of Asia was cited by Paul Otellini as one of the three "drivers" for 1999 sales, along with Xeon and the Internet.

It's never clear to me whether Japan is included in Asia results. Sounds like it is, in this case:

sales in China and India, where economic growth is intact, combined with
slender growth from South Korea and Southeast Asia, helped counterbalance the
weak Japanese sales, Breslin said.
