Well these days I wouldn't go out of my way to get a particular breed either. I grew up in simpler times when bred cats didn't fetch two or three hundred times as much as a loaf of bread. Rats, mice, bats and birds they could manage and the snakes they handled ok. I reckon we never saw what they ate, only what was to big to eat in one sitting. But being faced with a live, or I guess at that point semi-live, poisonous snake so near to where we live, was disconcerting to say the least. Certainly for this youngster in any event.
