zsteve/all,

Interesting article from Austin American-Statesman on 300 mm wafers.

exceprt: "We have products ready to go to customers for pilot lines, but there is only one pilot line going on right now," said Jaim Nulman, head of Applied's development effort. "It's like flying an airplane with no airport to land on and you are running low on fuel."

...In another indication of the problem, a four-hour session at the Semicon Southwest trade show today was to have focused on the move to 300-millimeter wafers. It was canceled , however, because not enough people registered for it.

Re: Short

Almost panicked this AM and nearly covered my one and only short, AMAT (at an 8% loss). Then I forced myself to look at the numbers once again, especially the recent BTB numbers kindly provided by members of this thread. Call me crazy for "going against the market" but I still can't see the AMAT bottom being addressed in past tense. So I've just added to my short position at 31 5/8, feeling very nauseated and dizzy.

Aaah Abbey... I must admit her reasoning explaining the decline is sound, but she's looking at the symptoms, not the underlying problem. We'll see what Mr. Market thinks as time progresses.

I must admit that I'm beginning to think I've missed the proverbial "boat."

Waiting until the end of October to see what happens...
