Cramer has a writeup on theStreet.com about the junk financing market being very
tough right now which is probably why Ascend had to get into the "financing"
business to get this deal through.


When you're competitors (probably Newbridge...) are doing it, you have no choice but to follow suit. Wouldn't you?

The rest of ASND's quarter looks pretty solid.

Ascend earned $0.40/share this quarter. They played accounting tricks to defer $0.08 to next quarter. Perhaps they see some downside to next quarter (SRA acquisition costs & Asia problems), and want to be safe. But the reality is ASND earned somewhere in the range of $0.40/share in Q3.
