I am 100% with you Thomas. I am not trading in this market for the simple reason that there is a lot of bad news still not out yet, which might appear on the surface at the very moment that one decides to go long.
I don't believe in this Bull-Party and I still think this market is highly overvalued but it might take even until the beginning of next year to proof that I was right.
As long as bad announcements of JPM are ignored by a cheering Investors' crowd, I stay out.
Please keep up the good work,
Michael Berkel

Resurfacing now with a quick lunchtime look at SUNW! It's those few sailing drives down the middle of the fairway that keep one coming back to the golfcourse.

Thomas:

I know exactly what you are going thru. I had a fantastic string of trades in July and August and was net up almost 200% on an annualized basis. I was beginning to think making money in the market was easy! However, beginning about mid-September thru today I have been hammered. My net is now a positive 36% annualized. That's still not bad, but my confidence has taken a real tumble and, in retrospect, I have made some extraordinarily bad decisions. I suspect that all traders go through these wrenching reversals at some point.

I am still trading, but trying to be more cautious and deliberate. I'm sure you will resume your winning ways.

Thomas,
Your system works for you. Don't get discouraged. The MCK/HBOC deal and market reaction caught lots of folks off guard, and needless to say all the TA in the world wouldn't have prevented your loss there. It was just unfortunate luck it happened while you were trading the stock. (Of course if the market had liked the merger announcement on Monday you would have been the beneficiary of some good luck). I have been holding some HBOC for several weeks and am kicking myself that I didn't follow my instincts and take my profits on Friday. (My candidates to buy were SPLS and CKR, either of which, it turns out, would have been profitable moves this week, so I lost out doubly). Anyway, this has little to do with BTT except that your MCK loss says nothing about the general validity of your system.

Regards, #B~}>
