Schlumberger Introduces the Highest Accuracy Production Test System for
High Performance Memories

DX2200 Achieves High Performance, Accuracy and Speed for Production Test of Direct RDRAM(tm), SSRAM and RIMM(tm)
Modules

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 20, 1998-- Schlumberger Automated Test Equipment (ATE), a leading provider of test and measurement
equipment for the semiconductor industry, today debuted the DX2200 memory test system. This high speed test system offers the most accurate and repeatable
measurements available to address production test needs of Direct RDRAM(tm), SSRAMs and RIMM(tm) modules.

The DX2200 has completed initial tests of the Direct RDRAM using test vectors from Rambus Inc [Nasdaq:RMBS - news]. ''We are pleased to see Schlumberger
apply their technology to Direct RDRAM testing, and we are encouraged by the stability and accuracy of measurements provided by the DX2200 ,'' stated Allen
Roberts, vice president and general manager of Rambus' Memory Technology Division.

The DX2200 system is a 500Mhz/1Gbps, full function, high performance production memory test system developed with the most advanced automatic test
equipment calibration architecture and liquid cooling system to deliver +/-50pS edge placement accuracy. The system features AutoEdge(tm), a comprehensive suite
of easy-to-use, calibration and validation tools that guarantee the accuracy and stability required for production test of today's high speed memories.

''Through extensive worldwide customer interaction, we have learned that accuracy and speed are the new priorities for memory test,'' stated Jackie Tubis,
president of Schlumberger ATE, noting that the addition of the high speed logic interface to the memories has redefined the testing paradigm. ''Our customers are
also demanding that the performance be deliverable in a production environment. Schlumberger understands this challenge and now brings to market the DX2200 to
meet specifications for accuracy and repeatability in high volume production test.''

The DX2200 system features a Packet Protocol Algorithmic Pattern Generator (PPAPG) that simplifies Direct RDRAM packet programming and provides Direct
RDRAM interface and Direct Access mode testing on a single platform. The data and address generation, in addition to the Schlumberger Sequencer Per
Function(tm) (SPF) timing architecture, provides the most powerful packet protocol test solution in the industry.

Test programming and device debug software on the DX2200 system is an extension of the ASAP(tm) (Advanced Symbolic ATE Programming) environment
compatible with all Schlumberger memory, mixed signal and logic test systems. This is part of the Schlumberger common platform approach to providing test
solutions that make optimal use of engineering resources to provide customers with a universal test programming environment for applications flexibility, program
compatibility and reduced operating and training expenses.

The DX2200 system is available fully integrated with Schlumberger E-beam diagnostic and verification systems, as well as with Pick & Place or Test-in-Tray
handlers for production. The flexibility of this unique solution accelerates new products to market by eliminating the correlation processes between design
verification, device characterization and product sample & ramp.

Schlumberger will begin shipping DX2200 systems in November 1998, with production ramp and multiple system deliveries through the first quarter of 1999.

The DX2200 is the second member of the Schlumberger ATE memory test family. In July, the company introduced the DX2001, a high performance production
memory solution for testing 64M, 128M and 256M SDRAM that was developed in close cooperation with Samsung.
