Obviously, TLAB has not made a new offer 1:1 for Ciena. This has to be a mistake. The "news" item is simply a rehashing of the original offer. It even says "6/3-62" which was TLAB's price when it made the offer for Ciena back on June 3rd.

Let's get back to reality, folks. Ciena is not going to be bought out anytime soon. Birck was knocking down rumors of further talks with Ciena; he was not fanning the flames. From what Nettles said on the CC, Ciena is going to wait for at least 6 months before they start entertaining new offers for the business. Otherwise Ciena will be taken out at a bargain-basement price.

I like a 5 dollar pop to the upside as much as the next guy. But when a stock goes up completely based on speculative merger gossip, it's a suckers rally that will only leave the longs deeper in the hole when the rumors prove untrue.

Doughboy.
