Mark;

I am sorry that we have spoken so much and you still have such a low opinion of me.

Jhn 8:7-11 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they which heard it, being convicted by [their own] conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, [even] unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

I believe that a Christian should follow the lead of the Messiah. Would you argue with Yeshua's response here. You seem very willing to judge Christians harshly without first looking to the Messiah himself. If you knew him better you would be more able to judge the fruit of one who professes to know him. I recommend once more that you read the book of John and quit judging in ignorance(not an insult simply that you do not understand him without reading his words not the words of men).

What did Barney say that makes you think he would picket a funeral?

In Yeshua's love for you - DLL

Hi Mark,

Re: picketers at Matthew Shepards funeral.

In my part of the continent I haven't been privy to the media broadcasts of picketers at the funeral.
I am sickened by the thought of any person who would utilize a time set aside for a family to grieve and bury their dead as a platform for protesting the deceased's activities.
I think you would already know from my stand on the bible that I consider homosexuality as sin. I'm guessing it has probably surfaced as a topic on this thread at some time.
However, nothing in scripture that I am aware of would condone these peoples actions if this actually transpired.
Ecclesiastes talks about a time and season for all things. In particular I'm thinking of it's application of... a time to mourn.... a time to keep silence, and a time to speak. These verses would have been most fittingly applied at this funeral.
You know I'm a self confessed "reader between the lines."
I attempt to scrutinize the news media in what portion of the truth they like to publish and for what end. Their desire to sensationalize or to cleave to one aspect of an incident to draw attention is no secret. The murder of any person is reprehensible and so is picketing a funeral.
Where I am reading between the lines, Satan, (yes I'm aware, the guy you don't believe in) or any faction that is opposed to Christianity would not be beyond stirring up people that would be foolish enough to cause tremendous hurt of this nature (picketers) under the guise of Christianity in an effort to bring the church into disrepute. The media would love to leap all over the opportunity.
I consider myself a bible fundamentalist, (bad words to some), yet I would not condone such actions.

In Christ,
John

†...Mark, did the Sun times also write about...†

the loving and compassionate sincere Christians who were there to weep with the family and friends of Matthew?

Did the Sun Times also print any of the loving, and compassionate greetings made to the family, by Christian strangers.

Did the Sun Times also record any of what sincere loving, and compassionate Christians had to say in condemnation of the protesters who called themselves Christians?

Did the Sun Times also tell of any of the sincere, loving and compassionate Christian churches around this nation who held special services this past Sunday in memory of Matthew?

Did the Sun Times also record any of the condeming statements against this group who demonstrated at the funeral, made by many of this country's sincere, loving and compassionate Christian leaders?

Or did they just inform it's readers of the following?
According to the Sun Times today, Mathew shepards family were greeted at the funeral
by picketers, who shouted the following comments.
"Mathew is going to Hell", "No tears for Queers", and "No Fags in Heaven".

Or, have you just chosen to take this quote from the Sun Times?
____________
____________

Gal 6:1-7
1 Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.
2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
4 But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.
5 For every man shall bear his own burden.
6 Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.
7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

That display of protest was an abomination to God.

Gal 5:22-26
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Sincerely
Shalom...><> †
