JHR,
If your ISP has upgraded to V.90 and you're still using either K56flex or X2, then you really want to update your modem firmware. Updating just the driver won't get you talking V.90 without the firmware update. You don't have to, you can keep going the way you are, but you'll get better performance if you do the upgrade.
