Barbera,

>>>>>>>> ,but imho the reason the NH's are not kicking in is because so many stocks are waaaay off their previous highs. So perhaps the NL's
are more the key. <<<<<<<<<

As mentioned in my post, we are really not that far from the highs on a relative basis. I also mentioned that in SEPT when the DOW was around 800-8100 the NEW HIGHS were over 100. The DOW is now 500-600 points higher but the NEW HIGHS are lower. Is that a negative sign or is the NEW HIGH just a LAGGING indicator, and will just move up in a matter of time. I dont know.

The NEW LOWs could be the key since they are much better than when the DOW was at 8000-8100. Seeya

Barbara:

Good observation regarding New Highs/New Lows...

The first reaction to a bottom is the reduction of New Lows... New highs increase at a slower pace because it's going to take 10% to 60% moves for many of these stocks to reach a new high... New Lows are the key to this turnaround signal...

Right now:

New Highs 48

New Lows 22

When stocks stop falling you have a bottom... The scarcity of New Lows says that stocks have stopped falling...
