Hi Chaz:

TERN has done extremely well in securing contracts
outside the US (Mexico, Japan and Belgium). I suspect
this reflects the fact many of these countries still
have old cable TV plants. Over time, they still will
have an incentive to upgrade their plants to two-way
activated HFC.

I do not know how the standards battle is currently shaping
up, but the Motorola study mentioned in the CED Magazine
article originates from a highly respected research
team. If they conclude that DMT is the best upstream
modulation format, this assessment will carry some weight.

TERN really needs to get its cable modems adopted by either
a major US operator, or by a major European operator.
Belgium is nice, but if a German or French operator
was involved, I would almost start to be optimistic--
keep in mind that in parallel to the DOCSIS/IEEE 802.14
standards debate in the US, a similar standards process
is going on in Europe right now.

Best regards,

Bernard Levy
